Zengchang Qin is a professor of Artificial Intelligence at Beihang University, where he directs the Intelligent Computing and Machine Learning Lab. With a career spanning academia and industry, his research focuses on artificial intelligence, machine learning, data mining, and uncertainty modeling, contributing to the theoretical foundations and practical applications of these fields.
Dr Qin obtained his Master degree in Machine Learning and
Data Mining in 2002 and PhD degree in Artificial Intelligence in 2005. Both
degrees were from the University of Bristol, UK. He did his postdoc in University
of California Berkeley with the father of fuzzy logic – Prof Lotfi Zadeh from
2006 to 2008. He also worked as visiting scholar in the Department of
Statistics in the University of Oxford in 2008 and Robotics Institute in Carnegie
Mellon University in 2010. He published two books and over 130 papers in
machine learning, multimedia retrieval, medical imaging, collective
intelligence and natural language processing. The overall citation, according
to Google Scholar, is over 4500 by 2025. He also served as the Chief Scientist
and Director of AI Institute of Keep from 2018 to 2019, the Chief Scientist and
Partner of Codemao Inc. since 2019. His interdisciplinary expertise bridges
computer science, economics, and finance, reflecting a unique ability to
integrate complex mathematical concepts with real-world problem-solving.
