Giuseppe De Pietro is a Full Professor of Computer Science and the Director of the Department of Information Science and Technologies at Pegaso Digital University. He is an Associate Researcher at the Institute for High-Performance Computing and Networking – CNR, and previously an Adjunct Professor at the College of Science and Technology at Temple University in Philadelphia and at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Naples Federico II.

He was a consultant for the Ministry of Reforms and Innovation in Public Administration, working on defining strategies for disseminating new technologies in IT and communications for e-government.

His research primarily focuses on artificial intelligence, particularly machine learning, deep learning, and natural language processing (NLP). These areas find applications in decision support systems in the medical field as well as virtual and augmented reality. He has actively participated in many European and national projects, including industrial collaborations. He is the coordinator of the European SMART BEAR and AI4HEALTHSEC projects under Horizon 2020. He has authored over 250 scientific articles published in international journals and conferences.
